After a few months of praying and searching, we found a home for our refugee family from the Dominican Republic of the Congo. The family will move to their new home August 15, 2016. Since March, our family has been sharing a home with a generous member of the community.
We are receiving donations of furniture, kitchen and household supplies to equip the new home. We have received enough bedroom and living room furniture. Contact Patty Wielenga (pattywielenga@gmail.com) for more information on the present needs. If we are unable to receive your donation, please forwarding them to the MCC Thrift Store (they have been very generous in helping supply clothing and furnishings to refugees).
Our family is very excited and grateful to establish their own home in time for the new school year. We are grateful for everyone’s generosity: to the Parkside family for their financial donations and many volunteered hours, Cedar Valley Mennonite and St. Paul’s Presbyterian (alongside numerous other churches), Mission Community Services, Valley Christian School, Mission Public School District, Mission Literacy in Motion, Mennonite Central Committee and many other groups and individuals.
