Dovetailing with Sunday's message from Paul's words (1 Cor. 1:18-2:5) it's easy to talk about the mind of Christ, but it's another thing to install and operate the mind of Christ. Receiving the mind of Christ is a gift of grace accessed in response to His invitation to salvation through faith. It begins by hearing the Gospel and responding - by giving over one's life in faith to Jesus Christ. In that exchange, we are born again; made a new creation in Him. He gives us His Spirit to minister to ours. It is impossible to have the mind of Christ apart from His Spirit and His Spirit dwells only within those who He has made new. Additionally, we are to daily call out to God to pour out His Spirit on us that we might be equipped and [...]
Date: May 21, 2017 Text: 1 Cor. 1:18-2:5 Speaker: Clint Nelson Achieving true unity starts with how we see God, ourselves and others. Paul informs us that this requires the rewiring our brains from the way the world thinks to the way Jesus thinks. Listen to hear how Jesus thinks.
How is a Christian to live out political election results? We update our prayer lists. "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Tim. 2:1-4 NIV) People of other political parties and religions are not the enemy; they are the ones we are called to love. It starts with prayer and aligning our heart with God's. We learn from those who voted differently than us. "An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." (Proverbs 18:15 ESV) It's in our [...]

Over the next few months we are testing out an additional component to our Sunday morning gathering/service called, “Family Time.” Before we dismiss kids to their classes, we are going to spend a few minutes hearing from one or two folks from our church who have something to share with our church family. It could be a verse, a song, a big prayer request, a word of encouragement, or something God is doing or has recently done in their life. There are some rules: 1) The motive for sharing and the content must be God-glorifying and family building; 2) We will want to include our kids in this time as much as possible, so consider them in the wording; 3) Most times, folks will be asked to keep their sharing to under five minutes and have an outline [...]

Date: April 23, 2017 Text: 1 Cor. 1:1-9 Speaker: Clint Nelson Most people want unity, but ironically we disagree on how to get there. There are competing ideas, but none as beautiful, morally consistent, and wise as the way of Christ.
Date: April 16, 2017 Text: 1 Corinthians 15:35-58 Speaker: Clint Nelson The resurrection of Jesus means that we too will one day be resurrected, but not all the good stuff is saved for that day. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and will sustain our immortal bodies in Heaven is available to us today on Earth to empower or mortal bodies.
