EQUALITY LOST

Date: February 18, 2018 Text: Genesis 3 Speaker: Clint Nelson In Genesis 3 we're told how and where things went wrong for humanity. We lost paradise and with it, equality between men and women. Just as we must pluck weeds, we must also pluck patriarchy.

YOU COMPLETE ME

Date: February 11, 2018 Text: Genesis 1-2 Speaker: Clint Nelson Before sin, men and women related, ruled and rested together as equals. When men and women work together, a complete picture of the image of God is painted for our world to see. Let us be that picture to our world.   Manuscript: This morning we continue our Biblical study of women. Last week was an introduction. Today, we will walk through Genesis 1-2. Genesis plays a critical part in understanding not only where we came from, how we were made, what we were made for and why we're in the mess we're in, but why God created male and female. Two genders, not one and not three. It is our origin story. And like any good origin story it provides context - the light of our origin/past [...]

BIBLE READING

The Bible was written over thousands of years, by different people, from different cultures, in different genres, so it’s not always easy to read, but when we put in the work you see the miracle of Scripture - it’s as though there is one author orchestrating the whole thing! It’s not just one prophet who had a vision and we’re all supposed to take their word for it, it’s multiple prophets and apostles over many generations that all share the same truth backed up by historical events, none more miraculous than the death and resurrection of Jesus! But, wait! There’s more! When we put in the work of reading to understand and seeking a relationship with God, the Word becomes alive and active by God's Spirit! The Word & Spirit illuminates your heart to see the beauty, wisdom [...]

THE JOY OF THE LORD

Date: December 17, 2017 Text: Nehemiah 8:1-12 Speaker: Clint Nelson When God's light shines we are fearful because our failures are illuminated. However, also illuminated is God Himself and He is good and forgiving, just and merciful. The darkness of our sorrow is overpowered by the forgiving light of joy in Christ Jesus. The joy of the Lord becomes our strength for our past, present and future.
